Taipei, Taiwan

I was born in Taipei in the ‘70s. The Taiwanese are an incredible people: spirited, kind, educated, cultured, and rebellious. The island is a mishmash of cultural influence, including Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, Japanese and native Austronesian. In the Taipei night markets, every generation, from children to grandparents, crowds the brightly lit streets at 2 am, eating steaming minced pork noodles, clothes shopping, or consulting facial fortune tellers.
